Manufacturers of Quality Park Model RV vacation homes, built in and for the Northwest. ROBERT "Bob" MCNEELY (Owner) Raised in Brookings, Oregon, as a fifth generation Oregonian, Bob calls the Pacific Northwest his home. In fact, when he's not up at the Nor'Wester factory in Chehalis or busy taking care of his customers at Mountain Resort at Hyatt Lake (near Ashland, Oregon) Bob still spends a significant amount of time in the Brookings area, at Whaleshead Beach Resort. A true pioneer, Bob can be largely credited for the introduction of quality Park Models to the Pacific Northwest. A former banker and land developer, Bob got his start in resort development back in 1982 when he and his wife wanted to develop a 5,000 acre parcel of land along the southern coast of Oregon owned by the family. A portion of that land is now Whaleshead Beach Resort, home to approximately 120 Nor'Wester Park Models. Bob and his wife, Jeanne Plante, originally did not aim to build Park Models, however. What Bob and Jeanne actually had in mind were very nice resort cottages, but the local jurisdiction advised him he could only have RVs in his RV park. So, being the entrepreneur that he is, he created an RV that looked like a cottage but was built like a custom home. |

Bob conducted some research and found out that while the law established minimum standards for RV construction, there was nothing to restrict him from greatly exceeding those standards. It took until the late 1980s, however, before Bob and Jeanne were able to find a manufacturer willing to construct Park Models of the quality they were looking for. In 1996, Bob and Jeanne determined that it was their own time to go into the park model manufacturing business and formed Nor'Wester Industries, Inc. The rest, as they say, is history. Bob's confidence in Nor'Wester's product is such that he routinely encourages potential customers to first check out the competition. With considerable expertise in the area of Park Models (as well as RV resort development) Bob obviously has ample knowledge and insight upon which to base his confidence in Nor'Wester Industries. It is more important to produce a quality product, than it is to just mass produce a product. With Bob's love of the outdoors, he often comments about areas that could really benefit from his product, while driving the couple's large motor home. He sees a finished project in his head, even if he is looking at a bare piece of land. Bob is very generous with his knowledge; if he believes the individual he is talking to can use the information wisely to benefit themselves or their project. He is in fact a wealth of knowledge in this industry on many levels, such as the lending aspect for the end purchaser, the development aspect for the land owner, the local jurisdiction aspect for the permit processes, the sales aspect for the park owner or dealer and the management aspect for end user operations. Bob has three special rules that he lives by: 1. You are your environment. 2. You are only as smart as your source of information. 3. And you should never intentionally emotionally upset someone because we do it enough by accident.
